Velocity was born in 1989 in a backyard shed outside Brisbane, Australia. Founder Tom Black made aluminum water bottle cages by hand on his own, and his brother John Black took them to the United States. In 1991 Velocity introduced its first aluminum rim, the Aero, and became a rim brand.

In 1992 Velocity opened a US distribution center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and in 2012 it moved its entire Australian production to Jacksonville, Florida. Since bringing all production to Grand Rapids in 2016, Velocity remains one of the few brands making aluminum rims in the United States.

Deep, stiff and built to last.

The Deep V is Velocity's signature rim, with a 30mm-tall V-shaped profile. The stiffness of that deep section makes for strong wheels even with fewer spokes, and it stands up to the track, fixed gear and rough city streets for years. It comes with a machined brake track (MSW) or without (non-MSW), and in a range of anodized colours.

The Chukker is the Deep V ATB, reissued. Its deep profile is made even tougher to stand up to heavier riders, tandems and the constant knocks of bike polo.

Wider, and tubeless.

The Quill follows the long-loved A23 road rim. Using design borrowed from the Aileron, it is wider and stiffer than the A23, with a 25mm-tall profile and a tubeless-ready bed. It is the Velocity that suits rim-brake road bikes and classic bicycles best.

The Aileron is a disc-only all-round road rim. Its 28mm-tall, 25mm-wide profile supports wide road tyres securely, and tubeless setup is simple. Road riding and light gravel on one wheelset.

The Cliffhanger is a tough rim for touring and commuting. Its wide profile supports big tyres securely, and it can run tubeless for fewer flats. If you want a long-lasting wheel for the bike you ride every day, start with the Cliffhanger.

The Atlas, as the name suggests, is a rim that carries the weight. It is made for long-distance touring with fully loaded panniers and comes in 700C and 650B. Built with 36 holes, it handles heavy loads and rough roads together.

Gravel, mountains and beyond.

Blunt is Velocity's off-road rim family. The third-generation Blunt SS is a light, disc-only rim, 30mm wide outside and 26.6mm inside, made for XC and gravel. The Blunt 35 is a trail rim with a 30mm inner width that holds bigger MTB tyres firmly.

The Dually is a 45mm-wide rim. The wide bed spreads the tyre out for a bigger contact patch and keeps it from folding at low pressure. A rim for loaded bikepacking and adventure bikes crossing sand and gravel.
